The Birth of Guangdong's "Water Venice":A Two-Year Delivery of Cyanthos-Lake at Butterfly Bay

Two years ago, Cyanthos-lake (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. signed the cultural tourism project Butterfly Bay Resort, a state-owned enterprise-backed development located at No.99 Changlong Avenue, Qingyuan. Centered around a roughly 30,000-square-meter Crystal Lake, it is hailed as China’s first Crystal Lake community, aiming to build a "Maldives of Northern Guangzhou".

For us at Cyanthos-lake, this has been both a major technical challenge and a two-year journey of building mutual trust. Now, with the May Day opening just around the corner, the Crystal Lake boasts crystal-clear azure water down to the lake bed. From the perspective of a technical and equipment supplier, we’d like to share the journey we’ve walked alongside Butterfly Bay throughout this construction period.

At the start of 2024, Butterfly Bay was still a bustling construction site. When the operator approached us at Cyanthos-Lake, their requirements were straightforward:
"This open-air artificial lake covers nearly 30,000 square meters and will welcome thousands of visitors every day. We need it to stay crystal clear all year round — no dead water zones, no unpleasant odors, and no frequent shutdowns caused by heavy rain or high temperatures."

To be honest, we have heard similar demands on other projects. What makes the Crystal Lake different is that it is a genuine large-water-body waterfront resort. It is not merely a scenic water landscape, but a body of water where visitors can fully immerse themselves. This means the water quality standard cannot be limited to landscape water levels; it must meet and even exceed swimming pool water standards.

That’s why we deployed Cyanthos-Lake’s core expertise — relying on our six independently developed water purification technology solutions. It is a system that enables a water body of tens of thousands of square meters to breathe, metabolize, and give early warnings on its own.

In the second year of our partnership, namely 2025, Butterfly Bay ushered in a real passenger flow peak. With the opening of Qingyuan Chimelong, the daily visitor volume of Crystal Lake doubled. It was the ultimate test for the large water body purification equipment.

The operation team had a tangible feeling: energy consumption dropped by 12%, while water quality remained completely unaffected. The water purity achieved by Cyanthos-Lake’s technology even reaches drinking water standard. One morning, the Operation Director of Butterfly Bay sent us a message:
"Your system is incredibly reliable beyond words."

After two years of cooperation, Butterfly Bay has shifted from an initial "give it a try" mindset to now being utterly reliant on our solutions.

When tourists come to Butterfly Bay, they never wonder how the water is purified. They only feel and see the water is bright blue, crystal clear and incredibly comfortable.

Resort managers no longer need to worry constantly about algae outbreaks or customer complaints. The intelligent platform on their mobile phones keeps them notified in advance that everything is under control.

This is exactly what Cyanthos-Lake strives to achieve: turning large water body purification from a troublesome hassle into an invisible guarantee.

Only one day remains until the official May Day opening of Butterfly Bay Crystal Lake & Water Paradise.

Two years ago, Butterfly Bay entrusted us with this 30,000-square-meter water area. Two years later, side by side, we have turned it into a landmark known as Guangdong’s Water Venice.

At Qingyuan Butterfly Bay, we met a client willing to polish the project together with us. They focused not only on immediate costs, but more importantly on long-term water quality stability and tourist experience. It is precisely this spirit of cooperation that has allowed Cyanthos-Lake’s six core water purification technologies to take firm root in this Crystal Lake.

See you at Qingyuan Butterfly Bay this May Day.
The water is all ready.
